The first Star Wars Story is certainly looking to be the grimmest, if this behind the scenes footage is any indication.

Unveiled on Friday during it’s spotlight panel, Lucasfilm has revealed the official poster for Rogue One, and a lovely behind-the-scenes reel. (They also showed a new trailer, which was for the live audience only.)

The poster is absolutely tremendous, showing the primary conflict of the film, a battle on a new planet - presuming fighting for the all important Death Star plans - as the devious weapon of the Empire looms above.

The reel, however, is possibly more exciting. Striking a tone similar to the SDCC reel shown for The Force Awakens, it really underlines the gritty, on-the-ground feel that director Gareth Edwards is aiming for Rogue One, even if some people are just WAY too delighted to be in a Star War.

Even with the reports of re-shoots, I think that Lucasfilm is determined to stick the landing here. These Star Wars Story films really are the future of the franchise, proving that we can go beyond the Skywalkers and see more of a universe far, far away. I hope for the best.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story hits theaters on December 16, 2016.
