The Lonely Island Gives Us Conner4Real in the Second 'POPSTAR' Trailer
In what could be a sneaky, dark horse comedy of the Summer, The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Jorma Taccone and Akiva Schaffer) have finally been given the opportunity to make their own film (2007’s Hot Rod was starring, but not written or directed by them), and we get this - the surreal and hilarious looking Popstar: Never Stop, Never Stopping.
It seems to be positioning itself as a modern day This Is Spinal Tap, serving as a mockumentary about Conner4Real (Samberg) - a Justin Bieber-esq star who faces great success, then great failure.
This trailer (and the red-band one before it) is absolutely hilarious, and between The Lonely Island behind the scenes, and an awesome cast (including Bill Hader and Sarah Silverman) in front of the camera, I’m really rooting for Popstar to do well.
Popstar: Never Stop, Never Stopping hits theaters on June 3, 2016.
