Jason Reitman’s taking the reigns from his father in this completely authorized continuation of the Ghostbusters saga (in something which both buries the 2016 installment and gives credence to the doofuses who whined about it.)

I’m of two minds here:

  1. I really like the look and feel of this trailer. As someone who loves movies and series like Super 8, the two It films and Stranger Things, the "sci-fi concept subverted through younger eyes" concept sings to me. BUT
  2. I can't help but feel weird about the relative lack of humor here, the fact that we're probably dealing with Gozer again, and that what was a silly movie about people doing the shitty work of catching ghosts is being deified in some way. Should I be laughing or approaching it with hushed breath?

Guess we will have to see how it comes together. At the least, Carrie Coon and Paul Rudd will deliver something watchable. The real question will be: how soon after this will Dan Aykroyd start claiming that the real real really real Ghostbusters 3 was coming?
