On the verge of Civil War, Marvel Studios has taken the wraps off of its November release, Doctor Strange.

Premiering on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the first teaser trailer for the film is just that - an extended tease - and promises one of the most unique Marvel films yet.

Feeling as if it were equal parts Batman Begins, Inception, and even The Matrix, Sherlock’s Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Stephen Strange, and this trailer promises that Doctor Strange could be one of the most unique movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

As the second film in “Phase 3", and the fourteenth Marvel film overall, this is arguably their biggest risk since Guardians of the Galaxy, but I feel like they’ve earned it.

As a comic fan, I’ve never been the most interested (or knowledgable) about Doctor Strange (despite learning thanks to Sean Howe’s fantastic book Marvel Comics: The Untold Story that EVERY writer has a Doctor Strange story they wish to do), so I’m excited to see how the character is brought to life for general audiences.

Directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister), Doctor Strange also stars Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Michael Stuhlbarg, Mads Mikkelsen, and a bald Tilda Swinton.

Two teaser posters for the film appear below.
