It’s an odd combination, but it’s just crazy enough to work.

Gary Sanchez Productions - the producing arm of actor Will Ferrell and director Adam McKay - has apparently entered into a deal with Warner Bros to produce a brand new animated film of The Flintstones. Or so says The Hollywood Reporter.

Neither Ferrell or McKay are currently directly involved with this relaunch of our modern stone age family, which is to be written by Chris Henchy (The Campaign).

There is no release window planned at this time, but this marks the first Flintstones project since the ill-fated TV reboot spearheaded by Seth MacFarlane, and the first theatrical film planned since the 1994 John Goodman-starring flick.
