See that above?

Beneath that large watermark from the fine folks at Empire Magazine, that’s your first look at the future of cinema.

It shows the filming of Tintin, co-directed by Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson, as the titanic directors give cues to Tintin (Jamie Bell) and Captain Haddock (Andy Serkis).

The movie is employing INTENSE use of motion capturing, so by the time the flick hits screens in 2011, it won’t look at all like two dudes in jumpsuits, but instead, a fully realized cgi version of the comic classic.

Between movies like this, and James Cameron’s Avatar, the movie world is moving more from the expensive and lengthy process of building, forming and filming, and more to creating virtual worlds around exisiting actors, and it should be interesting to see the results.  The movie just wrapped filming (in 32 days!), and I can’t wait to see how it looks once all the bells and whistles are applied.
