RUNAWAYS Has a Director?

With Scott Pilgrim hitting theaters this August, up next in the “Marty’s favorite comics get filmed” list is an adaptation of Bryan K. Vaughan’s Runaways.

Runaways, a story about what happens when a group of teens discover that their parents are a group of supervillans, has long been a favorite comic of mine, and they’re starting right at the top with a quality director.

The question is – which scoop is right?

The main one, which I’m running with, is that Peter Sollett, best known for directing Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist will be helming the film.  I think he’s an inspired choice, who’d nail the proper tone for the film.

This hasn’t stopped a second scoop from appearing, however, stating that Runaways will be handled by a comic fan favorite, who even did some writing on the comic in the past…Joss Whedon.

Either way, I’m excited. We’ll find out which is right soon enough, I’m sure.

J. Jonah Jameson To Play HOUSE In The Spidey Reboot!

If this pans out, this sure as hell is some inspired casting for the Marc Webb helmed Spidey reboot.

IESB reports in an exclusive scoop that currently in talks to replace JK Simmons in the new Spider-Man trilogy, is none other than House himself –  Hugh Laurie!

While I’ve been commenting to friends in private that I’d love for Simmons to reprise his role as Jameson, this would be an amazing coup for the 2012 relaunch.

OK, Maybe THE A-TEAM is Gonna Rule!

While I felt that Clash of the Titans was anything but good, one thing I can say for sure is that I absolutely loved the new trailer for this summer’s film adaptation of The A-Team.

The first trailer for the remake of the 80’s television classic left me cold, but this second trailer makes it look like an absolute fun, silly, over the top action film – and while before I had little interest in seeing this over the Summer, it’s now in my must see list.

What do you think?

If you’re a redblooded male who grew up in the 1980’s, this is the moment you’ve been waiting for….the trailer for The Expendables has finally gone live.

Look, to hype this movie, all I need to do is give you the names….

Sylvester Stalone.
Jason Statham.
Jet Li.
Terry Crews.
Eric Roberts.
Steve Austin.
Randy Couture.
Mickey Rourke.
Dolph Lundgren.
Danny Trejo.

…and two cameos which the trailer completely gives away, but I’ll leave it up to you if you want to see them before you see the flick.

Simply put, it’s a gigantic testosterone fest.

The Expendables hits theaters on August 13th…which makes it a great pairing with Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, if you were looking for a day out at the cineplex.
