From a write up that Erik Shilling at Jalopnik did about trying to watch older seasons of Top Gear 1 on Amazon Prime:

This is all what watching TV and movies are like in 2021: You think of something you want to watch, and hope that one of the 18 million streaming services you subscribe to has it. But they don’t, or they don’t have all of it, and so now, yes, you are subscribing to another goddamn streaming service.

He’s not wrong, that’s how it is.

I — personally — have been trying to combat this by purchasing favorite movies and TV shows 2, but this is the issue everyone’s trying to crack.

I can’t help but feel like if Apple TV Channels or Amazon’s Channel formats were more widely accepted, each provider would offer some crazy “omni-pass" for a price just under the combined total of say, 5 of them together, but alas, we’re not there.

…and I don’t think an “Apple-Music-or-Spotify-for-movies-and-television" is on it’s way, gang…

  1. A show I highly recommend watching, even with as problematic as the team is in 2021.
  2. Once they hit “Complete Series Box Set" format, that is.
