Tim Burton to Bring WEDNESDAY ADDAMS To Netflix

Wednesday Addams Live-Action Series Set at Netflix – Variety:

A Wednesday Addams live-action series has been ordered at Netflix, Variety has learned.

The project was first reported as being in development back in October, though no network or streamer was attached at that time. Netflix has given the coming-of-age series an eight episode order.

Based on the character originally created by Charles Addams, “Wednesday” is a young adult TV series described as a a sleuthing, supernaturally infused mystery charting Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. She attempts to master her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago — all while navigating her new and very tangled relationships at Nevermore.

The previous rumors are confirmed.

I guess this will be like the recently ended Sabrina series, but with Addams Family characters?

The Movie Worlds of Superman ’78 and Batman ’89 Are Heading to Comics in Two All-New DC Digital First Series! | DC:

Beginning in July 2021, decades after both Richard Donner’s Superman: The Movie and Tim Burton’s Batman introduced generations of fans to silver screen versions of DC’s Man of Steel and the World’s Greatest Detective, DC is returning to these beloved properties to tell new stories set within these worlds with the publication of a series of Superman ’78 and Batman ’89 comic books. Writer Rob Venditti and artist Wilfredo Torres will capture imaginations in Superman ’78 while screenwriter Sam Hamm and artist Joe Quinones will immerse readers into Batman ’89.

Very excited for this. Joe Quinones posted about his pitch for this very same idea back in 2016, and I’m very glad to see it come to life.

The other bit which has me stoked? Look at these character designs!

Yep, that Bruce Wayne is what you think it is.

First Trailer for Emma Stone as DISNEY’S CRUELLA

Brilliant. Bad. A little bit mad. May 2021.

Academy Award® winner Emma Stone (“La La Land”) stars in Disney’s “Cruella,” an all-new live-action feature film about the rebellious early days of one of cinemas most notorious – and notoriously fashionable – villains, the legendary Cruella de Vil. “Cruella,” which is set in 1970s London amidst the punk rock revolution, follows a young grifter named Estella, a clever and creative girl determined to make a name for herself with her designs. She befriends a pair of young thieves who appreciate her appetite for mischief, and together they are able to build a life for themselves on the London streets. One day, Estella’s flair for fashion catches the eye of the Baroness von Hellman, a fashion legend who is devastatingly chic and terrifyingly haute, played by two-time Oscar® winner Emma Thompson (“Howards End,” “Sense & Sensibility”). But their relationship sets in motion a course of events and revelations that will cause Estella to embrace her wicked side and become the raucous, fashionable and revenge-bent Cruella.

This feels a lot like someone at Disney wanted to make their own Harley Quinn movie.

Yet, it doesn’t look bad? I’ll gladly check it out on Disney+.

BROOKLYN NINE-NINE to End with Eighth Season

‘Brooklyn Nine-Nine’ to End With Season 8 on NBC – Variety:

“Brooklyn Nine-Nine” is coming to an end for the second time. NBC announced Thursday that the upcoming Season 8 of the comedy series will be its last.

The show was famously canceled after five seasons at Fox in 2018 before NBC revived it for a sixth season that same year. The comedy, set in a Brooklyn police precinct, stars Andy Samberg, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Melissa Fumero, Stephanie Beatriz, Joe Lo Truglio, Dirk Blocker and Joel McKinnon Miller. Season 8 will consist of 10 episodes. The show was originally renewed for an eight season in 2019 but the pandemic has stymied production. Season 8 will air as part of the 2021-2022 season.

I can’t imagine trying to write and produce a police-based comedy show is easy in the year 2021.

Still one of my favorite shows going. It will be missed.
