Overnight, Marvel Studios gave fans around the globe a reason to be thankful - the offical premiere for the trailer for Captain America: Civil War.

Hitting Jimmy Kimmel Live and then the internet shortly thereafter, I’m very pleased to say that Civil War continues in the Marvel Cinematic Universe tradition of taking the name or concept of a classic Marvel story and working it to fit the framework of what they’ve built over an incredible thirteen films.

Directed by the Russo Brothers, Civil War also seems to be doing the heavy lifting of being more a sequel to Captain America: The Winter Solider, and less a third Avengers film, if you can believe it. What’s even more damning for their Distinguished Competition? Because we’ve seen these characters grow together, laugh together, and become a team together, the stakes seem higher with lines that may feel melodramatic otherwise - like Tony’s “I was your friend".

It really separates the Caps and Iron Men from the Bats and Supermen…
