Thanks to my buddy Rosscott for turning me onto this one.

Ever since I saw Frank Langella in Frost/Nixon, he’s become one of the older character actors whom my ears perk up when I hear that he’s in a film.  Add something like say… robots, and you end up with something I’m very intrigued by.  That’s the forthcoming indie film Robot & Frank.

Starring Langella as an aging ex-convict who is provided a robot by his kids to care for him (sounds kinda like Roujin Z to me), Frank decides he wants to impress the local librarian who has caught his fancy (Susan Sarandon) by pulling off one final theft - with help of his robot.

The movie looks wonderfully quirky, although not terribly twee, and with an extended cast including James Marsden, Liv Tyler and Peter Sarsgaard as the voice of the robot, the quality of the concept is met with a quality cast.

I certainly will be wanting to check this one out when it hits my local indie cinema, and I think you just might like it too.

Robot & Frank hits theaters on August 24th, 2012.
