Hands down, the game I am most excited to play this fall has to be Batman: Arkham City.

The highly anticipated sequel to the first Batman game to really get it right, Batman: Arkham Asylum, it extends the gameplay from the constraints of being within the Asylum proper, to being in a full scale version of Gotham City.

We’ve already seen that joining Batman on his quest will be the playable Catwoman, but as Warner Bros Interactive has just revealed, Batman will also be joined by Robin!

As seen in the image above, Robin certainly looks way more badass than usual in this go around, almost looking like Cole from Infamous, if he were the latest Robin.

For the continuity nerds, it’ll be the Tim Drake version of Robin appearing in game, but there are two very key caveats.

  1. Robin will only be playable in the different challenge maps.

  2. Robin will be a Best Buy pre-order exclusive.

Yeah, it’s the latter that really bugs me.  I don’t understand why key content is being locked away for different retailers.  Granted, if Warner Bros continues as they did with Mortal Kombat, all exclusive DLC will be available eventually, but it still bothers me.

Oh well, at least it’s not Gamestop exclusive, am I right?

Batman: Arkham City hits shelves on October 18th, 2011.
