When I went and saw True Grit earlier this week, there was a pretty interesting trailer for a forthcoming TNT show, called Falling Skies.

Upon watching the special effects laden trailer, I knew I had to find out more. So, after digging up some information, I found the official plot synopsis.

FALLING SKIES opens in the chaotic aftermath of an alien attack that has left most of the world completely incapacitated. In the six months since the initial invasion, the few survivors have banded together outside major cities to begin the difficult task of fighting back. Each day is a test of survival as citizen soldiers work to protect the people in their care while also engaging in an insurgency campaign called 2nd Mass against the occupying alien force.
In short, it looks like it's going to be the Walking Dead of alien invasion movies.  Taking an existing trope of alien invasion films, and penetrating the rarely explored portion of what happens AFTER the credits role, it looks like what could be a very interesting TV show from TNT with high production values.  Sure, it helps that I've always thought that Noah Wyle was a pretty decent hand as an actor, too.

I’m a little bummed that it’s only set for 10 episodes right now, but hopefully this will be an instance of BBC-esq quality over quantity.

Falling Skies is set to premiere in June 2011.
