Remember a few months back when a voice actor accidentally released details on a Young Justice animated series coming to Cartoon Network?

Earlier today Cartoon Network, alongside Warner Brothers Animation confirmed plans to produce a series based on the younger version of the Justice League of America, and the first official promotional image was released above.

Here’s what Cartoon Network had to say in their official press release on the series:

YOUNG JUSTICE is an all-new series produced by Warner Bros. Animation and based upon the characters from DC Comics. In YOUNG JUSTICE, being a teenager means proving yourself over and over — to peers, parents, teachers, mentors and, ultimately, to yourself. But what if you’re not just a normal teenager? What if you’re a teenage super hero? How much harder will it be to prove yourself in a world of super powers, super villains and super secrets? Are you ready to come of age in such a world? Are you ready for life or death rites of passage? Are you ready to join the ranks of the great heroes and prove you’re worthy of the Justice League? The members of Young Justice—Robin, Aqualad, Kid Flash, Superboy, Miss Martian and Artemis—are about to find out.
Loosely based on the comic book series of the same title, I'm hoping that the cartoon keeps the comic's same feel of a light hearted, enjoyable fun romp with superheroes, mixed with just a touch of teen drama.  I'm not sure how I feel about the new Aqualad look or the random addition of the never before seen Miss Martian*, but with Superboy, Impulse (as Kid Flash), Robin and Artemis in the roster, the series should retain some of the feel of the 90's comic.

No set premiere date was announced.

*As pointed out to me by my good friend Kevin, Miss Martian is actually an existing DCU character. Whoops!
