I’m a recent convert to Battlestar Galactica, and it seems I’m just in time.

Season 3 hit DVD this week, the 4th and final season hits SciFi Channel next month, and they’ve announced that a 2-hour pilot for a prequel series, entitled Caprica is on it’s way.

Caprica, a two-hour pilot that takes place 50 years before BSG, has been given the green light. As the Galactica stars were gearing up to come on stage, (executive producer David) Eick was setting up meetings to start casting and continue planning. The show will begin production this spring and will air in the fall.
There's much more, including details on Season 4 at the heavily-spoiler filled Wired article here.

In case you haven’t jumped on the Galactica party bus yet, I do recommend it.  As someone who has avoided similar sci-fi TV series such as Stargate and Babylon 5 due to their rather hokey and at times off-putting presentation, it’s a breath of fresh air to see a series that takes what could be a really cheesy concept with the utmost seriousness, adding an air of 24-style political drama and paranoia to the settings.  Check out the DVDs, totally worth it.
