One of the biggest conclusions I had coming out of my long-form review of all of the DC “New 52″ was not just that comics needed to be cheaper, but so too did the digital copies.

I mean, offering digital copies at the same price as print (a ridiculous $4), and then only offering ONE book with a download code (Justice League, at an extra dollar premium, so…$5 for that) really sorta hurt the “same day digital” push, regardless of the impact it’s had on Comixology’s sales.

Marvel it seems, is coming a little closer to what I’m looking for. Just announced late last week, Marvel will be providing a FREE download code for (at least) the first three issues of their brand new Avenging Spider-Man series.

Avenging Spider-Man, a title combining hot writer Zeb Wells with fan favorite artist Joe Madureira in a super alliance similar to those found with Spider-Man and various Marvel Universe heroes within the book, has its first issue hit stands on November 9th. While the book is $4, I certainly feel like it’s bit more worth it, as it feels more like you’re paying $2 for a physical copy to go along your $2 digital edition.

Sure, it’s not the 99 cents per digital issue which I long for, but it’s a step in the better direction, and by God…I might just bite.

I’ve included a gallery of all 3 issues set to be included in this promotion, so you’ll know what to look for when you hit your local comics shop.

I swear, I don’t spend enough time (or money) on the wonderful wares of ThinkGeek.

Besides sponsoring some really cool stuff, ThinkGeek is frequently home to amazing products that people wouldn’t have otherwise thought of, or have long dreamed for.  Products like the iCade and the Tauntaun Sleeping Bag all started with one nerds wish, and they brought them to life.

Now, they’re striking while an iron is extremely warm.  Just 11 days ago, Apple released the new iPhone, the iPhone 4S, a great upgrade on their existing iPhone 4.  As a iPhone 3GS user, I was VERY excited to get my upgrade.  Not just for the speed, graphics and camera upgrades, but for Siri, a significant step up in the world of personal digital assistants.

I’ve used Siri quite a few times since getting my iPhone 4S, and for as amazing as ‘she’ is, I can’t help but think she reminds me of HAL 9000, the sentient AI from the Stanley Kubrick classic, 2001: A Space Odyssey.

Well, what if Siri didn’t just remind you of HAL…but she almost was HAL?

That’s the idea behind ThinkGeek’s latest product, the Iris 9000.

The Iris 9000 allows you to not only interact with your iPhone 4S and Siri from across the room, via remote, but adds a familiar ‘face’ to the device.

The true sci-fi nerds are already salivating over the potential for this one, but unfortunately, Iris 9000 will not be available until April 18th, 2012.  However, it’s going to have a heck of a price, just $60.

I guess the only question left is – are you geek enough?

What would you do if you could travel back in time? Assassinate Marilyn Monroe? Go on a date with Hitler? Obviously. But here’s what I’d do after that: grab all the modern technology I could find, take it to the late 70′s, superficially redesign it all to blend in, start a consumer electronics company to unleash it upon the world, then sit back as I rake in billions, trillions, or even millions of dollars.

That’s the main idea behind ALT/1977, a graphic design project taking modern technology such as laptops, cellphones, portable video games and MP3 players, pushing them back 33 years, and giving them the unique look and feel of electronics of the time period.

Artist Alex Varanese really out did himself here, and I’m not going to lie, I’d buy a “Pocket HiFi” now.

OK, I’m not going to submit to the normal level of nerd rage here, because as an adult, I completely understand – Marvel is a gigantic, publicly owned company, and they’re more about the dollar than the quality when it comes to licensing their properties.

But I cannot see the appeal for the audience here, with this new line of Marvel approved High Definition Television sets.

Created by RTC23 (have you heard of them? I sure as hell haven’t), these sets come between the sizes of 22 and 55 inches in both LCD and LED flavors, and not just feature comic designs on the outside case, but also a custom character related image appearing on screen for 8 seconds when you turn the television on.

So let me get this straight  – it’s an HDTV of a lesser quality, with ugly case designs, a shitty image whenever you turn the TV on, and you’re paying a premium over a quality Samsung or Vizio HDTV? And they’re online sales ONLY?

Who the fuck is the market for this, REALLY?

Hey there tech geeks and gadget nerds!

Do you have an ANDROID Phone?

Do you love it? Like really love it?

Great! Because now you can get collectable vinyl figurines of the Android mascot!

In possibly one of the strangest tie-in products I’ve ever seen, Dyzplastic has put together a series of blind-boxed figures of the Android mascot.  There will be 12 figures in the first series (coming in a box of 16), and as you can see, the series is full of variants of the cute lil’ green guy.  I like the one in the shirt and tie the most, myself.

The question now: When does someone anthropomorphize the iPhone or iPad into a series of collectible figures?

If you’re not a hardcore geek, the above video and headline is really meaningless to you.  If you are, your head just exploded.  Same if you’re Sony, Microsoft or Nintendo.

Let me break it down to you…

Gears of War? BioShock? Batman: Arkham Asylum?

What do they have in common?  If you said “they’re all amazing games”, you’re half right.

They all run on an engine called “Unreal Engine 3″, a graphical engine made to make programming easier for developers, while at the same time, producing graphically stunning games.

And it can run on the most popular smartphone currently available.

Now, this doesn’t mean you’ll be seeing ports of all of these games to the iPhone, the available memory doesn’t allow it (yet). What it does mean, though, is games of a similar quality will soon be available for your freaking telephone.

Modern technology folks, it blows my mind.

Apparently we’ll be seeing the first instances of this tech on the iPhone in early 2010.  Sure, the gameplay will have to match the graphics…but it’s freaking on.

Unfortunately, it’s not real. Yet.

This stunning Windows 7 PC is a concept offering designed by Dave Schultze, and it’s absolutely beautiful, as silly as a comment as that is to say with a computer.

Mixing 50′s form with an almost steampunk function (check out those sweet keyboard keys), you have a  computer that if it were real, I’d buy it in a heartbeat.  Especially considering how much my Windows desktop is crapping out at home.

Either way, it’s not a real computer you can buy, but given the hype this design has seen across the web in the past 24 hours, hopefully someone hires this guy to make these dreams a reality.

Let’s be honest. We’ve been saying for years that it was only a matter of time before Google went Skynet on us.

But honestly, I can say if they keep providing awesome ideas like this, I’m all for our new overlords.

The latest idea from the geniuses at Google is their first ever operating system, called Google Chrome OS.

Building off of their super badical web browser of the same name, Chrome OS is a very streamlined operating system for netbooks and similar low spec computers, allowing a user to operate “in the cloud”, i.e. with all storage online.

Google, being Google and owning YouTube and all, released the below video to showcase how the system will work.  Should you want to test it out yourself, a VMWare image of the program is available for download here.
