At the beginning of this year, amazing 1/6th scale figure creators Hot Toys revealed their first figure from the 2009 flick Inglourious Basterds, Brad Pitt’s Lt. Aldo Raine.

An uncanny re-creation of the actor and character, it’s only appropriate that the second figure in the line is just as great, and of a character just as important to the film – Christoph Waltz as Col. Hans Landa.

Arguably one of the greatest film villains of this century, Landa is re-created with an almost eerie eye to detail, and of course, Hot Toys’ typically well laid out mixture of appropriate accessories (INCLUDING HIS PIPE!) and well-crafted costuming.

Really, the only things that seperate you from action figure perfection are about $200, and the ability to be OK with having a Nazi on your shelf, even one as well-acted as Hans Landa.

This figure should be available late this year.

It seemed pretty much inevitable.

With amazing figures of the Mark IV armor, Whiplash, War Machine and others through the past, it was pretty much a given that the amazing artisans at Hot Toys would produce a figure of the Iron Man Mark VI armor.

What you probably didn’t expect, however, was how good, and how feature filled it would be.

Featuring interchangeable battle damaged armor, a (currently unfinished) Tony Stark head sculpt, picture perfect articulation and LED lighting, it’s an absolutely stunning piece of art.

Of course, art so awesome comes with a cost, as this figure is currently rumored with a $190 price tag. But I’ll be damned if it doesn’t look worth it.

It seems more and more lately that the My Poor Wallet section is designed simply for the latest creations from Hot Toys.

Honestly though, if they keep churning out the level of work they have, with the premium pricing at the same level (about $180 a figure), I have no issue featuring EVERYTHING they do.

The latest figures to join the list of things I want but sensibly will never have? Their figures of the Iron Man Mark IV armor, and the new big bad for Iron Man 2, Mickey Rourke as Whiplash.

Once again, each figure features the amazing sculpts, jaw-dropping detail and life like articulation you’ve come to expect from Hot Toys, and just looking through the photos, they alone should count as some sort of nerd porn.

Personally, I love the Mark IV figure, but I can’t wait to see what Hot Toys does with the Mark V (Suitcase) and Mark VI armors.  You know they’re coming.

Good lord, they really are making everything I wanted as a child, now that I’m an adult.

I previously featured Toynami’s Cinemaquette work for the Tim Burton Batman films in the past, but as awesome as the Cowl and Grappling Gun replicas were, they don’t even touch the latest installments – scale replicas of the models used for both the Batmobile AND Batwing!

Each stunning model is limited to just 500 pieces, and are retailing for $1999 for the Batmobile and $1499 for the Batwing.

These are amazing pieces, but are too rich for my blood, but seriously, that’s what My Poor Wallet is all about.

I’ve included a full gallery below.

It’s funny, it seems almost every post for My Poor Wallet seems to involve the latest and greatest figure from the crazy kids at Hot Toys, but when you release as amazing 1/6th scale collectable figures as they do (especially at the prices they do), they deserve the spot every single time.

The latest figure to grab the geeky spotlight? Their interpretation of War Machine from this May’s Iron Man 2.

The armor is stunningly detailed, the figure super articulated, the accessories numerous, and sure, the open mask sculpt of Don Cheadle isn’t quite right, but I’m sure they’ll fix that before production.

Either way, look through the gallery below and get to drooling. It’s truly a work of nerdy art.

One of my favorite films of 2009, District 9 blew me away with it’s amazing effects and stunning storytelling.

But one of the things that really put the film over were the amazing props and effects created for the film.  While we aren’t getting a replica of the amazing mech suit used in the film, Weta has just announced plans to release full scale replicas of the two alien weapons from the film, the Arc Generator (the white gun) and the Gas Projector (the black weapon).

With a limited release of 100 replicas for the Arc Generator and 200 replicas for the Gas Projector, it’s safe to say that while these guns will be lusted over by nerds, they will only be owned by a select few.

Both guns are currently on pre-order for a cool $500 each.

So what happens when you take one of my favorite movies of 2009, one of my favorite characters from the film (portrayed by one of my favorite actors) and hand it over to the team responsible for some of the craziest high-end collectible figures in the world?

You end up with a sad wallet, as Hot Toys has done it again with this absolutely stunning 1/6th scale figure of Brad Pitt as Lt. Aldo Raine from Inglourious Basterds.

Seriously, this is some stunning stunning work. As usual with these sorts of things, I’ve included a full gallery below – get ready to drool, fellow nerds!

Way back in the Summer of 2008, Joss Whedon’s Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog took the hearts of many a nerd across the internet (including myself).  An original program just for the internet, it took off like wildfire.

Since then, the popularity of the 3-part mini series has grown and grown, including the merchandising opportunities.  There was the DVD. Then the soundtrack (it was a musical after all). Then T-Shirts. And tie-in comics from Dark Horse!

But there has yet to be figures of any type.

Until now.

The fine folks at Quantum Mechanix have decided to continued their line of super stylish animated style maquettes, now with their interpretation of Neil Patrick Harris as Dr. Horrible.  It looks pretty amazing, and is due for release in February, but I must warn…at $70, it’s not your standard figurine.
