I know a certain someone who’s head is about to explode…

In one of the more surprising comic book movie announcements, the Dark Horse title The Goon, written/drawn/created by the wildly talented Eric Powell, will be hitting the screen in a CG animated film to be helmed by Fight Club’s David Fincher.

You read that right. The man who brought wild tales involving such characters as zombie priests, canniabal hobos, and pie loving skunk apes, will be teaming up with the man behind Panic Room and the adventures of Tyler Durden.  This was announced last night on Powell’s official website, with word following from the Hollywood Reporter, pretty much assuring it’s good to go.

Film goers, get ready for the wacky.

4 New Posters For THE SPIRIT Showcase The Ladies

Proving Frank Miller is pushing his range for his adaptation of the Wil Eisner classic The Spirit, these 4 new posters showcase the femme fatales of the film…in Black, White and Red.

…Not at all a Sin City redux, OH NO!

*sigh*  I continue to remain pessimistic about this project, but the image of Scarlett Johannson in Cat Eye glasses kinda makes my man parts all gooey.  (The other ladies showcased are Eva Mendes as Sand Saref, Sarah Paulson as Dr. Ellen Dolan and Jaime King as Lorilei Rox). I’ll say this though.  Having seen a trailer for this flick with The Incredible Hulk last week, the general public doesn’t give a damn about this movie.  Even Hellboy II got more recognition.  You’ve got your work cut out for you, Lion’s Gate!

If you want higher-rez versions of these posters (and for them to talk to you as you scroll over them), check out Yahoo!Movies right now!

Swinging It’s Way Into 2011…

…it’s Spider-Man 4?!

really?

This is apparently true according to Spidey producer Laura Ziskin who reportedly told theatre owners this past week that the film is scheduled to hit theaters in May 2011.

This is despite having no script. And no lead actor. Nor director.

While I spoke earlier here about excitement behind a new Spidey flick, provided some fresh blood gets involved, I again stress to the team at Sony…the world loves Spider-Man. The $2.5 Billion in box office receipts alone is proof of that.  Please don’t proceed with a flick that makes us regret that.

Should the flick hit theaters in 2011, it will be battling that summer against Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows: Part 2 and Captain America.

Of all the heroes getting movies, I never expected this one.

The above photo, featuring Thomas Jane under heavy makeup, is apparently the first effects test for a future Jonah Hex film.

Jonah Hex, for those not familiar, is a western anti-hero from DC Comics, most popular in the 70’s, who had a brief revival under the mature-themed Vertigo line in the 90’s. He’s best known for his handful of appearances in the animated DC universe, appearing in both Batman: The Animated Series and the Justice League toon.

According to Blog@Newsarama, where I got the image, the flick is to be helmed by the creators of Crank, Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor.  They certainly have gone straight to the fanboys, grabbing Thomas Jane, who grabbed the nerd love in The Punisher (which, admittingly, I’ve never seen) and then gained further notoriety in The Mist.

I am left wondering, however, why Hex? I suppose if anything Iron Man has shown that audiences can gravitate to a comic character who is less known in the public eye, so long as there’s a solid story and a draw to the film.  But really….Jonah Hex before The Flash? Before Green Lantern? How odd.

I guess we’re all really excited about Two-Face appearing in The Dark Knight.

At least, that’s what my hits and the cease and decist notice from Warner Brothers tells me.

Anywho, I suppose you want to see him in action?

Thanks, Dark Knight ARG, for making this ALL possible!
