A movie that I am greatly anticipating this Spring is Kong: Skull Island, the forthcoming relaunch of the classic King Kong franchise, meant to link up to the 2014 Godzilla reboot.

The first trailer was absolutely nutty in all the right ways, and two new posters for the film have come out that hit all the right notes for this movie nerd.

First, we have the IMAX poster, which is super evocative of Apocalypse Now, appropriate given the film’s steamy, 1970’s island vibe.

But then, we have the COOLEST POSTER I’VE SEEN IN AGES, the Japanese poster, which makes Kong: Skull Island look like the biggest creature feature in decades. OH MY GOD I WANT THIS FOR MY WALL SO BAD.

Now, the big concern: Will the final film live up to these images?  A man can hope.

We’ll find out very soon, as Kong: Skull Island hits theaters on March 10, 2017.
