This week has already been a huge one in the world of tech, with Apple’s WWDC 2016 kicking off alongside the beginning of the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (or E3), and while I intend to do a wrap up of my highlights of both, I wanted to quickly write about the reveal that brought out my inner-child:

Sony’s announcement of a brand new Spider-Man game coming for PlayStation 4.

youtu.be/3R2uvJqWe…

Developed by Insomniac Games (best known for the Ratchet and Clank franchise), the game appears to be a third-person action-adventure title, with incredibly kinetic web-swinging and wacky fighting, as shown in this great reveal trailer.

I’ve gone on record many times about Spider-Man being my favorite fictional character, full-stop, but some of the Spider-Man games also stand as my favorites ever, including Neversoft’s Spider-Man for the PlayStation 1, the PlayStation 2-era Spider-Man 2 (based off of the movie), and even the classic Sega Genesis title.

I’m hoping that with the big name developer behind it, this will go in the lexicon of great superhero games, and I will be watching with bated breath, every reveal, screenshot and trailer.

Now…what about that weird costume?

Spider-Man is currently in development with no release date revealed. It is currently available for pre-order via Amazon.
