Our first look at Key and Peele’s first feature film has finally arrived.

Looking like an homage to John Wick, Keanu is the story of a man named Rell, recently dumped (Jordan Peele), who finds solace in a new kitten that arrives at his door. Named Keanu, he is catnapped - and now, with the help of his cousin Clarence (Keegan Michael Key), Rell must work his way through the local gang world to get his cat back.

The first red band trailer (NSFW due to language), is below.

I know, this sounds completely ridiculous, but I think Key and Peele are on to something here. The trailer looks hilarious, the kitten is goddamned adorable, and I love the juxtaposition of the cat and the action. Plus, it’s nice to see Method Man getting acting work again.

Key and Peele also wrote the film, with their long-time show director, Peter Atencio, directing the film.

I hate to make a strong comparison - but the last time I remember a creative trio making the jump from the small screen to the big screen on a risky premise Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Nick Frost delivered us Shaun of the Dead. I’m hoping for similar good things here.
