Just wanted to take a brief moment to feature a really rad mobile game here on the blog - HoPiKo.

I decided to check out the game based on Apple making it an “Editor’s Choice" this week, and based on my time with the game so far, I cannot recommend it enough.

The plot of the game is simple. A virus strikes the insides of a video game system (which is in NO way a Nintendo Entertainment System), but one of the HoPiKos that makes the games work escapes, and now it’s up to him to defeat the viruses. (Virii?)

The gameplay is deceptively simple. Hold, aim and let go, and send your hero from platform to platform, until you can break a viral cage to save your fellow HoPiKos. This gets very complicated, very quickly, due to some GENIUS level design.

Developed by indie studio Laser Dog (who brought us Alone, previously), the game features a charming retro pixel style, matched with a fun, charging chip tune soundtrack. The game is fast, furious, fun, and addictive. And for just $4, with no IAP, it is 100% worth it.

HoPiKo is available now in the iOS App Store and in the Google Play Store.
