It seems that if you’re a superhero movie fan these days, it pays to be a night owl. On the East Coast, at least.

Late last night (1am Eastern, 10pm Pacific), Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice director Zack Snyder took to Twitter.

Echoing the reveals of the Batmobile, Ben Affleck’s Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Snyder decided to use the social network to reveal his version of another DC icon - Aquaman.

Portrayed by Jason Momoa (Game of Thrones), this first look at the new Aquaman is pretty much exactly as you’d expect. It’s Khal Drogo as Aquaman through a Zack Snyder filter. Honestly, it kinda reminds me of the 1990’s look, albeit with both hands present. That said, I’m not sure if I’m going to take this version of the character saying “I AM AQUAMAN" like a bad ass seriously. Just an odd name for a hero, especially juxtaposed with that look.

The question for me - however - is this: “Unite the Seven.“? It’s written The Social Network style across the image, and used as the hashtag in the tweet.

Is that a call out instead to the Justice League? We’ve got Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Aquaman - with The Flash, Green Lantern and Cyborg on the way. That’s seven. Could Snyder have more reveals coming down the pike?

It’s a Marvel phrase - but stay tuned, true believers!

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is set for a March 25, 2016 release, with Jason Momoa starring in a solo Aquaman film on July 27, 2018.
