Man, what a crazy weekend of news!

But, sadly, some San Diego Comic Con news fell through the cracks here – but don’t worry. To scoop it all up, we have this – your Monday Daily Blast! There’s lots of fun stuff to watch today.

At the top of the post: While the internet was all a flutter about the first look at Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, it turns out that DC Comics was hiding a new look at Ben Affleck’s Batman right in plain sight.

Movies

– The first half of the end is almost here – at Midnight this morning, Lionsgate released the first teaser trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1. It’s all the dystopian goodness you could want. Look for it on November 21.

– Sundance darling Whiplash is releasing to theaters this October, and Yahoo! got the first reveal of the trailer. This looks DAMN good. But I’m always game for whatever JK Simmons does anyway.

– Surprising audiences, Legendary revealed a brand new movie during their SDCC panel on Saturday afternoon – a new King Kong film, called Skull Island. The movie, set in the island where Kong is found, is set for a November 2016 release.

– I didn’t want to like Hot Tub Time Machine, but I did. It looks like Hot Tub Time Machine 2 may have the same effect on me this Christmas.

– 3 weeks in advance, The Expendables 3 has leaked to the internet in near perfect DVD quality. That’s got to hurt. But it’s lead to hilarity like this, so…win-win?

edgarwright

– He may be gone from Ant-Man, but he still loves bugs: Edgar Wright is already lining up more projects. In addition to the new original film Baby Driver, Wright has signed on to direct an adaptation of Grasshopper Jungle, a coming-of-age/giant bug invasion novel. Yeah. Really.

– Kevin Smith returns to film this September with Tusk, a REALLY weird looking horror film. Check out the first trailer above.

QT

– GOOD NEWS EVERYONE: Despite his swearing up and down that he wouldn’t, Quentin Tarantino announced at SDCC that he WILL, in fact, be directing his leaked script, The Hateful Eight. This marks QT’s second western, following 2012’s Django Unchained.

TV

– As promised, the Blu-Ray release of the 1960’s Batman television series was announced in full at SDCC this weekend. The set looks great (shown above), but personally, I’d love a cheaper version without the trinkets. Either way, you can pre-order it now for a November 11 release.

– Five minutes of clips from this Fall’s The Simpsons/Family Guy crossover have hit the web. And it…doesn’t look awful? Look for it on September 28.

Gaming

– LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham got a good long look at SDCC this year, and of course, that means…a new trailer!

clem

– Telltale Games are sure to have delighted fans with this announcement – their super popular The Walking Dead adventure game series will be returning for a third season.

– In the new trailer for this October’s Alien: Isolation, we get a look at the sadly, pre-order only DLC featuring the original cast of Alien. It looks pretty rad. But holy hell, Yaphet Kotto looks like shit.

Toys

– Did you know that this year marks 30 years of Transformers? More importantly, did you know it marks TWENTY years since the PlayStation debuted? Now that you feel old, get ready to pay for it – Takara Tomy is working on a special edition Optimus Prime that turns into a PlayStation 1 for release early next year.
