Movies
- The Poster Posse have done it again with some amazing Guardians of the Galaxy inspired posters, including the beautiful Matt Ferguson piece adorning the top of this post. So, so great.-Â The new poster for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is really wonderful.
- Following in the footsteps of Maleficent and next year’s Cinderella, Disney’s now planning a live-action Beauty and the Beast with director Bill Condon (Gods and Monsters).
- Everyone seems to have forgotten how great The Other Guys was. Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell haven’t forgotten, they’re looking to re-team in a new film together, called Daddy’s Home.
- IMAX is big business, I guess - not only will Jurassic World, Fast & Furious 7, and Warcraft among others now come out for the large format theaters, but Paramount’s now planning an IMAX re-release of Forrest Gump to celebrate that film’s 20th Anniversary. You now feel old.
- Speaking of re-issues, Ghostbusters 2 will finally hit Blu-Ray this September in a special set of both the first and second films, celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the franchise. If you wish to catch the first film one more time in theaters, you’ll get a chance when Ghostbusters returns to 700 theaters on August 29th.
Gaming
- Fans of the RPG/FPS hybrid Borderlands have a LOT to be excited for this Fall! Gearbox Software has officially dated Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel (appropriately, a prequel to the first two games) for October 14th. Expect it on 360, PS3 and PC.
- One time major Xbox One exclusive Dead Rising 3 will hit PCs this Summer.
- OBJECTION! Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy HD for the Nintendo 3DS is finally coming to the US this Winter. However, this remix of the amazing DS games will be a downloadable only title here in the States.
TV
- Ever want to make the pizzas the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles ate in real life? Foodbeast went crazy and made 24 of them, and somehow lived to tell the tale. Check this out if just for the photos.
Comics
- I guess we’re all Guardians-crazy. Word is orders for Rocket Raccoon #1 have exceeded 300,000 copies. To give an idea of scale, the top selling comic each month normally sells in the 100,000 range.
- Comic art team Udon will be celebrating 10 years of video game collaboration with a very special art book this Summer. The Art of Capcom: Complete Edition is sure to be 600+ pages of pretties.
Music
- Early 2000’s blogs are stoked! New albums by Interpol AND Spoon are due out this year! Time to get moody and steal these albums off of Kazaa!
- Speaking of old favorites, Weezer is leaking snippets of their new album in some weird ass YouTube videos. Sounding pretty good, if I do say so myself.
- An old music hat trick today, as Axl Rose of Guns ‘n Roses is claiming that we will see Chinese Democracy 2 soon! Whatever Axl. Keep telling yourself that.
- UK Band Los Campesinos! dropped an awesome new track, “Little Mouth” - recorded for the film Benny and Jolene, go give it a spin.
