Fans are on pins and needles as Dark Knight Trilogy and Inception director Christopher Nolan has started to seek out his next project.  Rumors have placed him with overseeing a film about Howard Hughes for years, but The Hollywood Reporter reports that Nolan will be jumping back on the sci-fi train instead.

A film called Interstellar is the rumored project, a film about time-travel and worm holes. Formerly a project toyed with by director Steven Spielberg, the latest draft of the script is by Jonathan Nolan (Christopher’s brother, and co-writer of The Dark Knight Rises and The Prestige), which makes the project an easy move for Christopher Nolan, known to work with a standard base of collaborators.

Other than the time travel angle, not much is known about Interstellar, besides that the script is based on the theories of  theoretical physicist Kip Thorne.  The project looks to be overseen by both Paramount and Warner Bros.  Those with knowledge of the project indicate the script is complex and multi-layered, making it a choice fit for Nolan as director.
