Clearly this weekend was a big one for art shows. We already featured a show on the East Coast, so lets head back to the art show hotbed - the West Coast, as Gallery 1988’s Los Angeles location presented one of the coolest shows I’ve seen in a long time - Rated G.

A solo gallery event from artist Justin White, he’s taken dozens of cult classic films and TV shows and put them through a unique filter based on cel animation. Each piece is actually an animation cell, with a plain background covered by cel artwork.

Whether it’s gory films like Fargo, shows like Saved By The Bell, or classics like Casablanca, Justin White sees it through with wonderfully hilarious detail.  I particularly enjoy how classic films are filtered through in an almost Steamboat Willy-esq style.

A full gallery of the pieces appears below. The show runs now through November 30th in Gallery 1988’s Los Angeles location.  Should you want to own any of these pieces, they are available here, with a handful also available as collectable prints.
