The world of entertainment is full of interesting glimpses of alternate realities. Chances are, if there was something successful, someone will try to find a way to invert it. I mean, this is a trend that has been going on since Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead took a different look at Hamlet.
Some recent ideas following this train of thought…
What if Superman Lost? Megamind.
What if Reese’s were inverted? .
What if Batman were a c*nt? Mark Millar’s Nemesis.
The latest universal inversion comes to us with deviantART user gotbob‘s look at an alternate GI Joe universe, where the Joes are Cobra and Cobra are Joes.
You can click the image above for bigger – personally, I think “Snake” and “Sgt. McCullen” are the best of the inversions. I’d love to see some more realistic takes on this concept…you hear that internet? TAKE THE CHALLENGE.

Actually, due to easily deceived bad guys, brainwashing (man those GI JOE characters loved them a good brainscrub), and social or moral appeasement (and in some cases all of the above)… at least six – I think possibly seven – MAYBE MORE – of these actually happened. Though Destro and the Baroness never went by their real names.
And that’s pretty much exactly what Destro, Scarlett, Storm Shadow, and Snake Eyes looked like when they did it.
