Since my first listen to it, I’ve been telling anyone who will listen that they need to check out the standup album Death of the Party from Kyle Kinane.
He has a very dark, subversive style of humor, and honestly, I love every minute of it. It’s fearless, brilliant stuff.
Now, thanks to the magic of internet, someone has animated a bit from the album (“Bunnies”), and you too can join the cult of Kinane fans.
If you dig it, his album can be purchased from , or ! Be warned, the language is sorta kinda very NSFW.
As the search continues to find who will play the first Avenger, Captain America in The First Avenger: Captain America, Marvel Studios is still making moves to cast their movie. And the latest is a goddamn’d master stroke.
Wearing the red skull of the Red Skull will be non other than go-to awesome villain actor Hugo Weaving.
I can’t say a single bad thing about this casting. It rules SUPER hard, and I can’t wait to see Weaving chew up scenery in this film. He’s built quite the nerd friendly resume with The Matrix, Lord of the Rings, V for Vendetta and this past February’s remake of The Wolfman, and now Weaving will make his mark in the world of Marvel.
After having his name in the rumor mills these past few weeks in regards to both a new Superman film and the highly anticipated third Batman film, Christopher Nolan was uncharacteristically talkative this week, opening up to the Los Angeles Times on the status of both projects.
While the full article is completely worth the time, I thought I’d give you a few of the highlights.
-How did Nolan end up heading up a new Superman project? It was all David Goyer’s fault: “He basically told me, ‘I have this thought about how you would approach Superman,’” Nolan recalled. “I immediately got it, loved it and thought: That is a way of approaching the story I’ve never seen before that makes it incredibly exciting. I wanted to get Emma and I involved in shepherding the project right away and getting it to the studio and getting it going in an exciting way.”
-Nolan will not be directing this new Superman film.
-Superman and Batman will be in separate film universes, which throws out my theory that these films (along with Green Lantern and Flash) would make up a DC Film Universe to counter Marvel Studios.
-The status of Batman 3? Jonathan Nolan is writing the script, and it wraps up the series: “Without getting into specifics, the key thing that makes the third film a great possibility for us is that we want to finish our story,” he said. “And in viewing it as the finishing of a story rather than infinitely blowing up the balloon and expanding the story.”
-Whoever the villain in the third film is, it won’t be Mr. Freeze.

One of my geek shames is that I haven’t made the time to finish watching Battlestar Galactica. I watched the first season, loved it, have the second season on DVD, and…didn’t follow up. Whoops.
Either way, I’m now working on fixing that. And now that I’ve seen this amazing mashup of Battlestar Galactica footage cut to the Beastie Boys “Sabotage”, I really really want to watch more.
Galactica fans, Beasties fans, people who just liked the ‘Sabotage” video, get ready to break bread. This is really well done.
Grab your paper calendar, mark it in iCal, set your DVR, do whatever you must do, as the premiere of brand new episodes of Futurama on Comedy Central has been announced.
This brand new season of episodes, featuring the full cast of voice actors, will hit screens on June 24th, 2010.
If that wasn’t awesome enough, this will be the first season animated in full HD widescreen.
Ever since the modern series of Marvel Comics films started hitting the screen, a very great tradition began – the cameo appearances of one Stan Lee.
And if you ask Stan, his is an art which has been ignored for far too long. So watch, if you will, as Mr. Lee makes his play for the first ever Oscar for cameo appearances.
I for one, completely support this measure. I mean, really, how many movies has Stan truly made great? The answer – countless.
