Great! Because now you can get collectable vinyl figurines of the Android mascot!
In possibly one of the strangest tie-in products I’ve ever seen, Dyzplastic has put together a series of blind-boxed figures of the Android mascot. There will be 12 figures in the first series (coming in a box of 16), and as you can see, the series is full of variants of the cute lil’ green guy. I like the one in the shirt and tie the most, myself.
The question now: When does someone anthropomorphize the iPhone or iPad into a series of collectible figures?
I suppose in the world where Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead have revamped what we think of zombie films, and Pixar and Dreamworks have ruled the box office with their CG animated sagas, it was only time before someone in Hollywood had the Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup moment and put their undead in their CG movie.
And the result? A.D..
Produced by one of the folks that brought you 300, the above teaser is more the proof of concept for an eventual full film. The teaser started making its rounds across the web yesterday, and got many a film geek excited, myself included.
One of my favorite, underrated comic series of the past few years (OK, it’s been like 10 years now) was Young Justice, a spin off of the Justice League of America franchise, featuring Robin, Superboy and Impulse. It was a fun, fast paced read, and I’ve wanted to see the franchise revisited since it ended.
Apparently, I’m about to get my wish, in animated form.
Accidently leaked by voice actress Stephanie Lemelin (in a blog post now removed), a new animated series titled Young Justice League will be premiering shortly, featuring – you guessed it, a younger version of the Justice League. Lemelin will be playing Arrowette (character design seen above), and she’s very excited about it. Or at least was until she probably got an earful for telling her blog followers about it.
The crack team at comic news & rumor site Bleeding Cool not only got a hold of the post, but got some inside info on the series. Young Justice League will apparently feature the team of Martian Girl, Aqualad, Nightwing, Impulse, Arrowette, and Connor Kent (Superboy) and will be properly revealed at San Diego Comic Con this summer.
Considering how great Batman: The Brave & The Bold has been, and how great the direct to video DC animated films are, I think this may be another great installment in the great DC cartoon legacy started with the Batman series wayyyy back in ’92. Color me excited.
