JACKBOOTS ON WHITEHALL: Team America in WW2?

Well, this sure looks interesting!

This is the first I’ve heard of Jackbooks On Whitehall, but considering the rather unique way the flick was put together, I have to say I’m all sorts of intrigued.

First and foremost, it’s an alternative reality version of World War II.

Namely, one where “which the Nazis hatch a plan to invade England by drilling under the English Channel and into the heart of London. But with the entire British army stuck in Dunkirk, the whole country must band together to prevent a full-on invasion.”

Here’s the very interesting part though – the entire movie appears to have been shot using 1970′s style GI Joe’s or something!

The voice cast sounds pretty excellent, including Ewan McGregor, Tom Wilkinson, Rosamund Pike, & Alan Cumming, but overall, the unique way this has been put together is what has me drooling.

Finally – the FULL KICK-ASS Trailer!

I swear, whoever is handling the marketing for Kick-Ass has certainly learned a thing or two from The Dark Knight.

Much like Knight, Kick-Ass has had it’s name across the web early and often.  Between comic con appearances, slow leaking of media like web exclusive trailers and posters, and it’s now culminated in the release of the above full trailer for the flick.

It’s hard to believe this is the first time we’ve seen the story laid out properly, but the trailer is SUPER effective at selling the flick. I personally cannot wait.

While the official release date is on April 16th, it’s worth noting that Kick-Ass will be kicking off the theatrical portion of SXSW this year.  A show, which one day, I will go to.  I swear it.

A More Shiny Shellhead: Iron Man Gets New Armor!

I suppose it shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Iron Man goes through new suits of armor like I seem to go through iPods, but Tony Stark’s about to start rocking a new suit of armor, starting in the pages of April’s Invincible Iron Man #25.

Designed by writer Matt Fraction and Iron Man movie designer Ryan Meindering, the armor change is most likely part of Marvel’s plan to keep the character high profile in the Marvel U on the road to the theatrical release of Iron Man 2, but I must say, it is kinda striking.

My one thought however – while streamlining the look certainly reflects the changes in technology over the past few years, the bright yellow and red look doesn’t really reflect what you see in modern gadgets.

Sure, it’s the Iron Man trademark, but I don’t think you’d see it if such a character were designed today.  Unless Tony Stark’s a major hulkamaniac.

Reese & Wernick Take Hollywood: Now They’ve Got GI Joe 2!

Honest to God, before this week, I had no idea who Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick were, but they seem to be making all of the right moves to insure that changes.

You’re probably wondering who they are too, so let me refresh you.

Reese & Wernick burst onto the scene this past fall with the super awesome genre hit (and BoR Best of ’09 winner) Zombieland.

Then, earlier this week, it was announced that they were going to be writing the much anticipated/dreaded (in equal amounts) film adaptation of the ever popular Deadpool character.

Now, today, comes word that they’ll be tag-teaming the script for the sequel to GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, this past summer’s not so great adaptation of the classic toy line/80′s toon.

Personally, I didn’t think much of the Joe flick aside from a few key moments (the Cobra Commander reveal was awesome), but apparently I’m wrong, as it grossed over $300 Mil worldwide.

My big worry – Reese & Wernick are obviously talented dudes, but are they stretching themselves too thin?  Between a possible Zombieland 2 in 3D, the Deadpool flick and GI Joe 2, that’s a LOT of work, even for two people working together.  Maybe the schedules don’t overlap as tightly as I’d think.
