Holy shit.  Are the license holders for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles dead set on making pure crap?

I’m guessing considering the Nickelodeon deal is just a few months old that the big N had little to do with these, but oh fuck, the Shredder Hoodie has been topped.

First, we have a discovery by my good friend and yours, Ross Nover

The Krang Hoodie.

And…that’s pretty awful. But just as quickly as this has been found, just as quickly as the bar has been lowered, I’ve discovered the worst of the worst…

Ninja Turtle Snuggies

Brought to us by the fine folks at Hot Topic, I’m not sure what’s worse – the ugly as sin snuggies, or the emo dude models trying to look tough.

Either way, can we please stop slapping my childhood icons on such crap? Ugggggh.

Even though it’s been over 10 years since the Prequel Trilogy launched, and almost 5 since it ended, people can’t stop debating the merits of the second Star Wars trilogy.

Was it good? Was it bad? Were we better off having just the original three?

These are things nerds debate for hours.

But there has never been an argument this lengthy nor well defined.

From YouTube user “RedLetterMedia” comes a 70 minute review of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.

Sound a bit over the top? It is, but some way, some how, you’ll be enthralled for over an hour of nerd criticism.

Once you can find the free time, I highly recommend the viewing. The first part is embedded above, the rest can be found here.

Call me tasteless, call me a jerk, but I’ve got to know…

It’s just been announced that Def Leppard has signed a deal with the media group Primary Wave to produce, amongst other things, a cartoon series and comic book.

As surreal as it is that a cartoon and comic are being made up of a British rock band who are pushing their 50′s, here’s what I want to know…

…Is Rick Allen gonna get a kick ass, Cable-esq cybernetic arm?

Nerdiest web program ever? You know it.

Designed by Tom Scott, Star Wars Weather Forecast gives you the forecast for your city not using things like “temperature” or weather condition, but instead by comparing it to a planet from the legendary film saga.

What’s it like in Baltimore today? Well, with 20 inches of snow, there’s only one planet which is appropriate…

Fellow nerds and children of the 80s, I want you to picture something.

First, picture legendary Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle villain Shredder.

Pretty bad ass, right?

Now imagine, if on the near continuous nostalgia wave we’re riding on, someone decided to make a Shredder styled costume hoodie!

Sound pretty bad ass, right?

Here’s how it looks…

Yeah. That one should’ve been held back for a few revisions. Worth $60 this ain’t.

You know, when it comes down to it, 2009 has been a great year.

Stunning movies, awesome music, jaw droppingly great things in the world of nerd. And I’ve been very lucky to cover it here at Blast-O-Rama.

The above video from YouTube user ‘Zack1Young’ really underlines it, with clips from all the best movies of this year, to the tune of one of my favorite bands, the Arcade Fire.

So with this video, and with this post, I thought I’d take this time to announce what’s coming on the site.

On December 31st, you’ll be getting my top 10 movies of the year, my top 10 albums of the year, and my music mix for the year 2009. Get ready for good times.

Completing the 4 part series of Kick-Ass character posters, here’s the poster for who might be the breakout character from the flick – Hit Girl!

Played by Chloe Moretz (500 Days of Summer), Hit Girl is an adorable young lady trained by her dad, known as Big Daddy (played by Nicolas Cage) to fight crime.

And apparently, she does it quite well.

So, let’s make with the movie already!

Kick-Ass hits theaters April 16, 2010.

Last weekend, the teaser trailer to the sequel for Batman: Arkham Asylum made it’s worldwide debut at Spike TV’s Video Game Awards.

It seemed a simple teaser, but as the above video from GameTrailers.com shows, there may be some very interesting hints toward what the Dark Knight’s next adventure will hold.

Can you say…Penguin?
