As Christopher Nolan’s official follow-up to The Dark Knight, it goes beyond saying that anticipation is high for Inception.
Unfortunately we know next to nothing about the movie. But steps have been put into place to make me think it’s about to change.
If you recall back when I posted the Inception trailer, the movie’s official site, was just a spinning top. Nothing more, nothing less.
Well, that’s changed, and much like with The Dark Knight, we’ve started a viral game.
If you visit the site now, the top has stopped spinning. Clicking the top then brings you to a new website, .
Once there, you’re able to play a 3D maze game, called “Mind Crime”.
Finish that maze and….OH SNAP! IT’S THE POSTER FOR INCEPTION!

This is what I’d imagine to be the first of many viral teases to come for the Summer 2010 flick, and it’s perfectly timed, as if rumors are true, the first lengthy trailer for the Leonardo DiCaprio starring picture will be attached to Sherlock Holmes next week.
…but it did, however, have a whole bunch of sweet, comic book styled illustrations which were used to sell the flick.
That’s the concept behind the latest scoop over at comic industry watchdog Bleeding Cool, who noticed that many media outlets were claiming that this Christmas’ Robert Downey Jr./Jude Law romp was based on a comic.
To brighten up the news (and why I’m posting this), however, they discovered that artist John Watkiss did do a series of absolutely stunning comic styled illustrations to get across the tone and feel of the film, as a part of the initial pitch packet. I’ve included all of these images in an awesome gallery below.
How accurate was their transition from sketch to screen? Not sure, yet. But we’ll all know when Sherlock Holmes hits theaters on Christmas Day.
Batman: The Animated Series is 17 years old. It’s been that long since Bruce Timm, Paul Dini and the gang changed the way superhero cartoons went about being made, and while the memory lives on in DVDs and reruns, it’s easy to lose focus on how innovative a series it was.
So let us go back to the beginning. 1990. 1 year since Tim Burton gave Batman a new lease in the world of pop culture, 2 years before airdate, the team behind the show had to plot their world in a Writer’s Bible.
And, thanks to the magic of the internet, it’s downloadable in PDF form. It’s an AWESOME read, and really gives you a look behind the scenes of a TV show, to see the work done before script #1 is even written. You’ll easily lose your afternoon or evening to this.
Or, if you prefer, I’ve uploaded it myself on my own hosting here: Batman Writer’s Bible.
The continued rush towards 2010 in the movie industry continues, as we get our first look at Ridley Scott’s adaptation of Robin Hood.
With Russell Crowe in the lead role of the infamous thief who stole from the rich and gave to the poor, my initial feelings towards the project had me pretty excited, having just rewatched Gladiator recently. But watching the above trailer, with random metal added to the action…left kind of a bad taste in my mouth. Still, with a stellar cast (also featuring the always great Cate Blanchett) and steady direction, this may hold out. I hope.
Will the movie overcome the marketing? Or are they adding ice cream to a bag of manure? We’ll find out when Robin Hood hits theaters next year.
For a taste of the movie without AESOME METAL!!!!11, I’ve included the first stills from the flick below.
Sure, I’m excited for those films. But there is none that I anticipate more than Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.
Combining my favorite graphic novel series with my favorite director (Edgar Wright), I’ve been sitting on pins and needles waiting for each piece of information and media on this flick.
Today, we got the first still from the film. Sort of.
Edgar Wright posted the above image today on his blog, which is a framed still from the flim. It’s a nice taste, but we need a better look. Riiiight? Right.
Luckily, the crew at /Film have than I, and have already flattened out the image. So here you go, a better look at the cast!
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World makes my dreams come true sometime in 2010.
Telling you what’s worth buying each and every week, it’s Awesome-O-Rama!
We continue in a wash week from the world of gaming and comics, as all of the big gaming and comic collections have already snuck out, but in the world of movies, the blockbuster releases continue through December, with big releases this week, on the 22nd and the 29th (for those with niggling gift cards.) As always, click the title to buy it at our official awesome partner, Amazon.com.
If you had told me at the beginning of the summer that this film would not only be wildly successful, but the MOST successful comedy of ALL time, I’d say you were a liar. But here we go with Zach Galfinakis, the surreal comedian being in one of the biggest movies of the year. The success wasn’t just on his shoulders, however, with great performances from Bradley Cooper and Ed Helms, plus Heather Graham as a hooker with a heart of gold. Click the title above for the blu release, for the 2-disc DVD, and for the standard 1-disc release.
Quentin Tarantino’s return to the silver screen brought a tense Nazi tale that was all his own. Sure, it wasn’t the film that the ads promised (if anything, the Basterds make up, oh, 50% of the film), but it was a tense ride that I cannot wait to take again. And given it’s multiple Golden Globe noms this morning, I wasn’t the only one who loved every minute. Again, click the title for the blu, for the 2-disc, and for the single disc.
I don’t know why, but it seems less and less people give the proper credit to Mel Brooks. Sure, he’s spent the better part of the last 10 years turning his legacy into a series of never ending musicals, but let us not forget what made his name – a series of amazing, rarely topped comedic gems. And this blu-ray set throws them all together, most of which have yet to be released in high def. I hope to check it out, but given the holiday season, it’s a bit pricey for me right now. But hey, if you know someone who’d dig it, or you yourself want it, click the name for it. Or , for the DVD set released a few years back.
With just a week and change until Christmas, the shopping season is on. May these titles be apart of your cart this week. Until next Tuesday, this has been…Awesome-O-Rama.
God damnit, didn’t I just say this about Iron Man 2?
If you keep releasing posters, there’s not much more to say about the film aside from “this looks cool, it comes out on [date], click for big.”
I mean, they need to give us something substantial, like foota–
Oh, they did?
Oh snap! Click play below for an age-restricted (read: probably NWS) clip from Kick-Ass to go with the above character poster for Nicholas Cage as Big Daddy.
All blogger snark aside, the good word on Kick-Ass continues to grow after a very successful showing as part of Aint it Cool News’ annual Butt Numb A Thon, and this clip adds to my hope that it’s going to be the first real surprise of 2010.
Ever since Left 4 Dead 2 was announced this past spring at E3, I’ve hoped that there would be a way for the original cast to get involved in the zombie-killin’ fun of the sequel.
Well, the time has arrived. Or at least, will arrive in the Spring, with the first Left 4 Dead2 downloadable content pack, titled The Passing.
Set after the last campaign from the original Left 4 Dead, and before the first campaign of Left 4 Dead 2, The Passing brings both casts together for a bout of undead fighthin’ in a small town in rural Georgia.
If the return of Zoey, Bill, Francis and Louis wasn’t enough reason to get excited, the DLC pack will also bring a new weapon and a new zombie type to the game, which was already pretty stocked in both.
The Passing will be available for both 360 and PC users, with no announced price, yet.
