Of all the nerdy bands to ever nerd, I don’t think any have come near touching the geek relevance of Coheed & Cambria.

I say that with love of course, as ever since Second Stage Turbine Blade entered my ears back in 2002, I’ve followed them intently. But when other bands who call themselves nerdy at best drop phrases like “Cassie Lang” and “Twitter” into their verses, Coheed has always gone the extra mile. All their albums thus far have been part of an overarching story, one which has been adapted into various media, including a number of successful graphic novels.

Freshly announced from the band is the release of their new album, with a planned release date of April 2010.  The album, titled Year of the Black Rainbow, is set to be a prequel to the 4 albums which came before it, setting the stage for the storytelling which took place in their previous releases.

No further details like track titles are available at this time, but for the hardcore fans, they’ll be releasing a deluxe version of the album, which comes with a full 300 page novel, co-written by Coheed mastermind Claudio Sanchez, and well known comic writer Peter David.  How rad is that?

Of all the rumors to surround the 4th Spider-Man film, I think this is my favorite.

Sure, I like the mental image of a Rachel McAdams or Anne Hathaway being poured into the Black Cat jumpsuit, but this is the first rumor to make me flat out hope to see the film.

The rumor as such, states that the main villain for Spider-Man 4 will be The Vulture. A great pick, given the characters classic rogue’s gallery status, coming from an era Sam Raimi prefers to pull from.

But then – the apparent choice of actor…

John Malkovich.

Honestly, who hasn’t seen Malkovich rant and rave and thought, “That man is a super-villain!”.  I’ll pay $10 right now just to see Johnny Boy yell at Tobey for making such embarrassing faces throughout the Spider-man series.

The downside of the rumor is that the Black Cat won’t be Black Cat in name, instead titled the “Vulturess”, but hey, let’s focus on the good here.

Malkovich. Spider-Man 4. Let’s do this, and let’s reveal it soon, Sony. You’re supposed to be filming in 2 months!

Of all the items converted to modern art in this day and age, I never thought one of them would be the Nintendo Game Boy.

But, I’ve been rendered incorrect, as a group of French artists decided to create art using nothing but old Game Boy’s, as a side show to the Video Games Live! music show in Paris, France.

I honestly can’t think of a better way to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Nintendo’s endearing brick of a system.  Click play to start the slideshow!
