Just a few weeks after it’s launch, it’s safe to say Left 4 Dead 2 is a hit.

The sequel to the super-popular zombie-shootin’ co-op shooter hit shelves on November 17th, and according to the latest press release from Valve, it’s already sold a whopping TWO MILLION copies. Great for the gang in Washington, although I’m sure the amazing Black Friday deals (which priced the game down as low as $35 from it’s retail of $60) helped.

But buried in there is one very very key sentence to L4D fans, like myself.  Let’s dig it up….

“Left 4 Dead 2 is off to a great start with strong support at retail and great reviews from the press,” said Doug Lombardi, VP of marketing at Valve. “Meanwhile the title has already been played by over 1 million Xbox LIVE Gold account holders, and news regarding L4D2 DLC 1 is coming very soon.

Awwwww yeah! I mean, I think we all knew it was coming, but to have confirmation, makes me very very happy.

Maybe it’ll have to do with a certain Southern-Fried Rock Band who like to play amusement parks?

With the hype train kicking off for Iron Man 2 on this past Monday with the reveal of the super awesome teaser poster, Marvel/Paramount continues to make sure their name stays in the nerd press with the 4 above images from the flick (which you can click for high-rez!).

The images don’t really share too much with us.  You have more of Tony working on things, the return of JARVIS (!!!), an un-cropped version of the Black Widow photo from earlier in the summer, and a look at Mickey Rourke as Whiplash, working on his creepy gear, but overall, no insight at the story.

I mean, there is a story, right?

Maybe not.

In a very impressive, career spanning interview with In Contention, Jeff Bridges (who played the awesome Obidiah Stane in IM1) gives a look into the creative process for the first flick, and it’s an eye opener.

“They had no script, man,” Bridges exclaims. “They had an outline. We would show up for big scenes every day and we wouldn’t know what we were going to say. We would have to go into our trailer and work on this scene and call up writers on the phone, ‘You got any ideas?’ Meanwhile the crew is tapping their foot on the stage waiting for us to come on.”

Bridges, director Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr. would literally act out sequences during primitive rehearsals, Downey taking on Bridges’s role and vice versa, to find and essentially improvise their way to full scenes, the actor recounts. Bridges says that the entire production was probably saved by the improv prowess of the film’s director and star.

Wow. So I guess it’s a good thing that Downey and Favreau are back for Iron Man 2, eh? Here’s hoping Justin Theroux provided a bit more than an outline in his screenplay…

It kinda figures, doesn’t it?  As soon as Blu-Ray starts its growth in the world of media, we’re finally getting some of the most requested content on DVD.

In this case, it’s two classic MTV animated series, The Maxx and The Head. These cartoons were part of the popular “MTV Oddities” lineup from the mid 1990s, and as a kid growing up in that era, I hold both shows in high regard.

Now, if either series was actually good, I don’t recall. But it’s beyond awesome they’re coming to DVD, via Amazon’s “CreateSpace” DVD-R program, which gave us classic Nickelodeon series like Doug, and even the first printing of Dr. Horrible’s Sing Along Blog.  Honestly, with The State, Doug and now these MTV Oddities series, I’m not sure what classic show from my childhood isn’t available.

Here’s hoping for a Celebrity Deathmatch Retrospective Box Set, I guess.

The Maxx is available for pre-order now for $17.99 The Head can be yours for $24.95. Neither release date has been announced. Yet.
