One of the more overlooked announcements from San Diego Comic Con had to be that of the DVD/Blu-Ray release Halo Legends.

Sure, people mentioned it around SDCC, there were some posters released, but there’s been if anything, a lack of hype for this release.  Similar in vein to The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight, Halo Legends allows a team of anime directors to run wild in the Halo universe, creating vignettes each with a unique style and storytelling approach.

With the release of Halo 3: ODST coming tomorrow, however, it comes as no surprise that the push for Legends has begun.  This past Friday night on SpikeTV’s Game Trailers TV, they showed the above 5 minute clip from the short titled “The Babysitter”, our first extended glimpse at the film.

While I enjoy the Halo games, I am not a fervent fan (I’m not 100% about picking up Halo 3: ODST tomorrow, for example), but given that I really enjoyed both The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight, I think Halo Legends is going to end up rather worthwhile.  We’ll find out for sure when it releases early next year.
