Hey, did I ever tell you about the surreal fever dream I had, about The Rock starring in a movie as a hockey player who routinely knocks people’s teeth out, and then he gets forced to become a Tooth Fairy?

Yeah, it was some weird stuff. This is why I’m not allowed to write when I’m on NyQuil.

So what’s going on today in the movies on the web, eh?

New Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson movie? How iron–

OH SWEET GOD IT WASN’T A FEVER DREAM IT WAS A DARK NIGHTMARE

Seriously though, I know the family movies are easy money, but why hasn’t someone put The Rock in a real comedy or action movie with balls? Dude has skills. Hate to see them wasted in pap like this.

Tooth Fairy stinks up cinemas on January 22, 2010.

Alright, so we’re just under 3 months until James Cameron’s 3D-CGI epic Avatar hits screens, and shy of a teaser trailer and a 15 minute screening that left most people undecided on whether the movie is worth a rumored $300 million (I dug it, but anyway) we’ve yet to really get anything more.

Enter viral marketing!

The first of hopefully many viral sites for Avatar hit today in the form of AVTR: Future Artifacts From The World of Pandora.  This site, chock full of videos and concept art, is designed to get the viewer accustomed to the alien planet of Pandora, the location for the film.

Now, before you look at it’s serene jungles and lush landscapes and think it’s safe, you get a video message from Colonel Quaritch (actor Stephen Lang, the dude with the sweet scars), where he warns you of the dangers with in.

So be wary, and be ready, and check out the world of Pandora!

One of the more overlooked announcements from San Diego Comic Con had to be that of the DVD/Blu-Ray release Halo Legends.

Sure, people mentioned it around SDCC, there were some posters released, but there’s been if anything, a lack of hype for this release.  Similar in vein to The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight, Halo Legends allows a team of anime directors to run wild in the Halo universe, creating vignettes each with a unique style and storytelling approach.

With the release of Halo 3: ODST coming tomorrow, however, it comes as no surprise that the push for Legends has begun.  This past Friday night on SpikeTV’s Game Trailers TV, they showed the above 5 minute clip from the short titled “The Babysitter”, our first extended glimpse at the film.

While I enjoy the Halo games, I am not a fervent fan (I’m not 100% about picking up Halo 3: ODST tomorrow, for example), but given that I really enjoyed both The Animatrix and Batman: Gotham Knight, I think Halo Legends is going to end up rather worthwhile.  We’ll find out for sure when it releases early next year.

Last night, in the middle of the broadcast of the 61st Annual Primetime Emmys, known supervillain/blogger Dr. Horrible interrupted the broadcast to taunt television viewers on the death of their given format and the rise of the internet as a broadcast platform.

Thanks to the magic of said intertubes, we now have video of his message of hate (along with some surprise guests), appearing above.

In all seriousness though, this was just one part of a very fun Emmys broadcast, the enjoyment of which was almost entirely at the hands of host Neil Patrick Harris and announcer John Hodgman, who added humor and gravitas to what is typically another bloated awards show.  Here’s hoping they’re both brought back for 2010.

Oh, and given that I’m already a drooling fanboy for it on here…
