Dear readers…have you seen Brick?

Because if you haven’t, you really should.  A bizarre mixture of detective noir, mixed with a high school setting, it was one of the most unique and entrancing films I’ve seen in years.

In turn, I knew I had to keep an eye on writer/director Rian Johnson.

Over the past few years, he’s been dilgantly working on his follow up to Brick, a heist film called The Brothers Bloom.  Unfortunately for him, and we the audience, Bloom has been shuffled from release date to release date, and it was starting to look like the film would never see the light of day!

Worry no longer, as The Brothers Bloom is finally set to hit theaters on May 15th…and to get you, the person who didn’t even know about it excited, they’ve put the first SEVEN minutes of the flick online for free on Hulu.  I’ve embeded it above, and let me say…I’m even more excited.

As the old adage goes: “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”

Or, as Hollywood sees it these days: “If at first you succeed, then subsequently don’t succeed, try again.”

This line of thinking has caused some terrible, terrible movies (The Dukes of Hazzard, Rob Zombie’s Halloween). It’s also inspired some great movies (Ocean’s 11, Batman Begins.)

Well, the dice are being rolled once more, as everyone’s favorite “shoot it on the cheap” director is taking on a classic action franchise.

That’s right, Robert Rodriguez is taking on Predator.

Rodriguez’s take, entitled Predators, sounds like a worthy addition to the 1987 classic.  Here’s the pitch for this one: a team of commandos (just like the first) battles…wait for it…a team of Predators.

Rodriguez, add some good go-booms and blood, and I’m fucking there.

Is it too much to ask that you hire Jason Staham?

Predators is tentatively scheduled to hit theaters April 15th, 2010.

Batman: Arkham Asylum is fast becoming one of the more anticipated titles for gamers this coming summer.

If I had to say why, it’s probably because of a few reasons.

1. The Dark Knight, starring said Bat-person, was one of the biggest grossing movies in the history of ever.

2. It looks like a decent game, all around.

3. It might just be the best licensed title…well, ever.

But for those of us on the fence, or at least those of us with multiple systems, unsure which way to purchase, the PlayStation 3 sure is looking like the better option.

Why?  It’s all about that banner above.  Spotted today in Sony’s HOME program, it pretty blatantly states that everyone’s favorite clown prince of crime, The Joker, will only be playable on the PS Triple.

Edios, if you don’t fuck this one up…you just earned yourself a sale of a PS3 copy.
