One part Apple, one part Pac-Man homage, this might be the coolest iPod speaker I’ve ever seen.

It’s a freaking PAC MAN ghost! Cost is just $89, and comes in red, blue or white.  No word on whether you can eat it after taking a power pellet.

Following the rather considerable amount of hype surrounding the relaunch of Friday the 13th this weekend, it should come as no surprise that there’s a remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street in the queue.

What may come as a surprise, however, is the choice of director: Samuel Bayer.

Name not really ringing a bell?  Well, if you were like me, and grew up in the 90s watching far-too-much MTV, you might recognize his name from the lil’ director tag at the beginning and end of each video.

Bayer was responsible for a shit-ton of music videos, including Blind Melon’s “No Rain” and Nirvana’s “Smells Like Teen Spirit”.  A full list is available on his Wiki page.

Honestly, I think this might not be a terrible choice.  Arguably, Bayer was part of a group who visually defined the NIGHTMARE generation.  Sure, he may not have directed a film of his own yet, but it’s a refreshing change of pace compared to the typical horror-fiends behind the cameras.

The big question left: Who’s gonna play Freddy?  The F13 remake apparently replaced Kane Hodder with a pretty decent new Jason (or so the early reviews indicate), but can anyone replace Robert Englund?

Well this is pretty rad.  Following the awesome deluge of sweet video clips and images from the New Frontiersman website, the Watchmen hype machine continues, with a decidedly retro slant.

You ever want to play a Streets of Rage-esq beat ‘em up as the Nite Owl or Silk Spectre?  Here’s your chance!

Sure, it’s a pretty simplistic flash game, but I’ve gotta give them credit for authenticity.  Shame there isn’t an iPhone or otherwise portable version…

I know this is going to break the heart of Bat-Fans everywhere, but…here goes.

Much like a band-aid being ripped from a wound…Chris Nolan’s next movie is not Batman Begins 3/The Dark Night 2.

His next project instead? A film called Inception.

The details on this project are pretty scarce, but here’s what The Hollywood Reporter had to say on it.

“Inception” is described as “a contemporary sci-fi actioner set within the architecture of the mind.”

Ok….so…that tells us next to nothing. But let’s be honest…after The Dark Knight, Batman Begins, The Prestige, Memento…how could you NOT want to see this?

Inception is currently set to be filmed this summer for a Summer 2010 release.

Fresh off the front page of Ain’t It Cool news comes quite the interesting update on the Brothers Wachowski.

The rumor is…they’re taking over the Superman franchise.

Not just for a film, but a full-on trilogy of films.

The article itself also includes information on the Wachowski-produced Ninja Assassin, the fate of Plastic Man, plus a rumor or two on Brian Singer taking over Logan’s Run, but oh man…

The Wachowski’s? Doing Superman?  I’m not even a big fan of The Man of Steel, but this would be one for the Holy Shit if True file.

After decades of speculation and rumor, Quentin Tarantino is finally letting us take a look at Inglorious Basterds.

The oddly spelled WW2 flick features a team of “Nazi hunters” lead by a fantastically accented Brad Pitt.  Personally, I’m all sorts of excited. What say you, reader?

After seeing bookmarks handed out for this at NYCC over the weekend, I had a feeling this would be coming this week…

The official website for Scott Pilgrim vs. The World launched today!  The film, an adaptation of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s fantastic graphic novella series, is being directed by Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Spaced, Shaun of the Dead) with Michael Cera (Superbad, Arrested Development) in the lead role.

Of course, if you read this blog, you probably are sick of hearing about it.

…but too bad, ’cause only more hype is comin’!

Anyway, the site has no real content (yet), but is delightfully retro.  Enjoy the blinking title gif.

Man, the internet is just set to ruin my post-Super Bowl movie buzz.

Earlier today, we had the images of robots from Transformers 2…which generally looked more like Bionicle bots than anything else.

Now, we have the first look at Cobra Commander from the GI Joe movie.

Granted, you’ve gotta put an asterisk on that.  This first look comes from the packaging of the GI Joe Movie “Combat Heroes” action figure line.  A line of toys that features cutesy, super deformed versions of characters from different properties.

So while this isn’t 100% screen accurate, I think we can presume it’s close, given the looks of the other figures in the line.

…at least Destro’s gonna have a silver head…
