Here I thought CRANK was the silliest, most over the top, ballsy movie ever.
But evidently, the creators REALLY want to out do themselves this time, as seen in the first VERY NOT SAFE FOR WORK trailer for CRANK 2. What do I think? I don’t even know, man. After watching this, I think I need a good sit down.
One of my delights every month is the latest issue of Rolling Stone.
Aside from still relevant musical coverage (hear that, Pitchfork? it’s called integrity), every month, each issue is filled with facinating articles that have little to do with the music world, but still grab and keep the readers attention.
THIS is one of those articles.
Not too surprisngly, the topic grabbed me fast – Real Life Superheroes. But this isn’t in the way of everyday police are heroes, or anything like that…these are real people who have considered themselves superheroes, and have the costumes (and twisted lives) to prove it.
As soon as I read it, I knew that I’d want to share it with you…and luckily, Rolling Stone put it up to day.
I’m not gonna lie, I know Christmas is just around the corner, but I’m already getting excited for NERD Christmas.
What is NERD Christmas, you ask? Why it’s FREE FREAKIN’ COMIC BOOK DAY, which will be held on May 2nd for 2009.
The past few years of Free Comic Book Day have been very good to me…giving me the first taste of The Umbrella Academy and Atomic Robo, plus some free Scott Pilgrim action. Not to mention, most comic shops tend to throw some great bargins out to hook the new audience they build that day. So to say that I’m looking forward to next years? A bit of an understatement.
Luckily, Diamond wants to hook the nerds in early and often, so they’ve ALREADY announced the comics for this year’s FCBD.
What looks good? The Green Lantern: Blackest Night prelude could be rad, featuring the birth of the “Dark Lanterns”, literally zombie versions of the Lantern Corp. Also, Red 5 Comics has me with their release of Atomic Robo & Friends. Finally, who can hate on a free FCBD2009 Minimate? I know I sure can’t!
Mark your 2009 calendars geeks, dweebs and weirdos! Our day is coming! And the comics: they are free.
Why? Well, the next show is THIS Saturday, and we’re all getting excited for it. Hell, the excitement even flowed into the world of nerdcore, as seen in this video featuring MC Lars and YT Cracker.
Haven’t heard of it? Well, it’s this sweet action-RPG due out next year. Featuring Jack Black as voice talent, it’s set in a world where metal is king. And super serious.
Not sold? Check out the trailer below.
Until next week, I’m Marty Day…and those things are AWESOME.
