The DC/Marvel War Continues…Movie Style…

We’ve made no bones about three things here at Blast-O-Rama

1. Love Robert Downey Jr.

2. Love Marvel more than DC.

3. Think The Dark Knight is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

So I’m sure you can imagine the mixed feelings I had when I read this quote from Downey regarding The Dark Knight

“My whole thing is that that I saw ‘The Dark Knight’. I feel like I’m dumb because I feel like I don’t get how many things that are so smart. It’s like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I’m like, ‘That’s not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.’ I loved ‘The Prestige’ but didn’t understand ‘The Dark Knight’. Didn’t get it, still can’t tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I’m like, ‘I get it. This is so high brow and so fucking smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.’ You know what? Fuck DC comics. That’s all I have to say and that’s where I’m really coming from.”

Is Downey firmly supporting his new major employers? Or did he really have an issue with TDK? YOU MAKE THE CALL! (insert NFL music here…)

  1. Either way, as long as people realize that Batman is the only good franchise DC has going for it then everything’s fine. Batman can be great because no other DC movie will ever be. Marvel’s got the monopoly on great heroes. Batman has some awesome villains, but that’s all DC can claim. And Marvel has MOTHERFUCKING DOOM!

    Case closed.

  2. Sorry, but I agree with Downey Jr. on this. I thought TDK was way overhyped for what it was: Just a very slick action movie. That’s all. Not groundbreaking. Heath Ledger’s Joker was beyond amazing, I’ll give you that, but otherwise the movie was kinda generic to me.

  3. it’s funny that Robert Downey Jr. said the Dark Knight is too sophisticated when he himself tends to sound so sophisticated
