Wow, I guess the long dormant Astro Boy movie is further along than I anticipated.
IMAGI Studios (they who did the pretty-but-dumb TMNT movie last year) announced the official voice cast for Astro Boy, which is apparently ready for release next year.
Wow, I had no idea. I thought it was still stuck in development hell over at Sony.
Anywho, the voice cast includes Nicolas Cage, Donald Sutherland, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy and Eugene Levy, along with Freddie Highmore voicing the celestial robot child.
I do wonder…after the failure of Speed Racer, does Astro Boy stand a chance?
Thanks to for the details.

I liked the TMNT movie, and Speed Racer was the most my mind has blown in months.
Visually, I thought IMAGI did a fantastic job with the TMNT movie.
However, the writing was what bugged me. They didn’t really seem to shoot for the fences when it came to the story, it felt more like it was a setup for a TMNT TV series, with the lack of peril/drama and loads of loose ends.
I think if IMAGI got to do a sequel, they’d fix this issue, but as it stands, I can’t really say it hit the nail on the head.
I think the only voice for Astro Boy is the voice of Master Billy Quizboy, from The Venture Brothers.
