Yeah, I had to go for the pun.

Just announced today over at Jackson Publick’s livejournal, just in time for the Season 3 premiere of The Venture Brothers, comes one of the coolest ideas ever in the history of TV/cartoon related merch.

I give you….The Venture Brothers Shirt Of The Week Club!

Every week, following the premiere of the latest episode of The Venture Brothers, Astrobase Go! will put a t-shirt on sale, with a design related to that weeks episode, for $22, including shipping.

The first design is up now (a sweet design for the Guild of Calamitous Intent), and there will be one for each episode of Season 3, 13 shirts total.

Are you a huge Venture fan?  Astrobase has you covered, as they’re offering a 13 shirt subscription (along with an exclusive Brock Samson Blood Judo shirt) for the low low price of $250.

Me?  I think I’ll grab one or two as they appear.  Although, the potential for eBay sales is great…hmm…anyone want to go in on a subscription?

Yep, that’s right. Best image ever.

Oh? You wanted more content? Ok.

Well, in the continued effort to cover everything I missed over the holiday weekend, I thought it worth mentioning that two of my favorite people ever, Guillermo Del Toro and Peter Jackson answered fan questions this weekend regarding the 2010 release of The Hobbit!

While the transcript of the entire chat (located here) is worth reading, one bit really grabbed me…

KenshinIV What are the chances Ron Perlman will be voicing Smog?
Guillermo del Toro At this time the voice of Smaug is down to a very few choices in my head and I have a completely specific one, Ron has a good chance but I have other plans for RP… we will see…

That’s right, nerds. Hellboy 2 isn’t the end for the power duo of Perlman & Del Toro. Get excited. I sure am!

Now that we’re in the midst of the summer movie season, it’s a perfect time to start looking towards the big releases for 2009.

And for me at least, one of the biggest is Watchmen.

Looks like Warner Bros is thinking the same, as over the holiday, they released a metric s-ton of information regarding the Zach Synder helmed flick.

Firstly, it’s looking like we’ll be making quite the assgroove in the theater seats, as Synder promises a 3 hour running time, with a 4.5 hour Ultimate cut hitting DVD.

Next up, for the hardcores, Warner Bros is taking quite the risk, releasing a full length animated version of Tales of the Black Freighter (the comic within a comic featured in the graphic novella of Watchmen) a scant 5 days after Watchmen’s March 6th release.  This DVD will also feature a biography on the Watchmen heroes, entitled Under the Cowl, based loosely on the book written by Nite-Owl, also featured in the comic. (Seeing a trend here?)

Lastly, to keep the fanboys drooling, Ain’t It Cool has our first look at the 1940′s version of the Watchmen, called The Minutemen. I’ll let the image speak for itself.

Hyped? I sure am.  Here’s hoping Zach Synder has indeed pulled off the impossible and made the unfilmable filmable when Watchmen hits theaters this March.
