In what should come as NO surprise following the massive first weekend for Iron Man ($200+ million worldwide, 94% Rotten Tomatoes Rating), more Marvel movies are on their way.
But I don’t think anyone expected the slate to get announced this early.
Marvel this morning (getting Monday started right!) in their First Quarter stock report from Marvel Studios.
What are they?
- Iron Man 2 – April 3, 2010
- Thor – June 4, 2010
- The First Avenger: Captain America – May 6, 2011
- The Avengers – July 2011
So I guess we can look forward to another 3 years of Blast-O-Rama being full of comic movie updates. *sigh* I try to diversify, people!

I was thinking about it today and I think the best bet for a Thor flick might be a plot tagged onto something else. I really can’t see it lasting on it’s own. I hope I’m wrong.
I like Thor. I just doubt the acceptance of a stand alone film.
According to what I was reading today, Matthew Vaughn (the director of Thor, he of Layer Cake and Stardust fame) said that the Thor flick is set to be a Lord of the Ring’s level flick, taking place entirely in Asguard.
Guess they can grab the Narnia/LotR crowd.
Certainly going to be jarring to have THAT character in the Avengers movie…unless they just did Hulk/Cap/Iron Man as the Avengers, with maybe…Hawkeye?
Speaking of Thor…
Someone dug up Harry Knowles’ VERY positive review of the Thor script.
Have a look see:
Alright then. I’m ready.
Gas up the bird! *Makes swirling motion with finger
TO THE SKIES!
Thor doth be prepared to rock thine world, mortal!
Random idea for Captain America casting…
Nathan Fillion? (He’d be Mal, from Firefly)
Just a thought.
“‘Tis on!”
Hopefully they’ll be going The Ultimates route and we’ll get Ed Norton for Banner. Though if they do, we’ll end up replaying the Abomination role in the Anti-Ultimates team.
